Property leasing

The University has a limited number of commercial spaces available on campus, which are allocated through a formal tender process to ensure fairness, equity, and transparency.

As academic projects take priority in campus space allocation, any area identified for commercial use is transferred to the Commercial Development Department and subjected to the tender process. This includes the leasing of spaces for food vendors, food trucks, and vending machines on campus.

Interested parties may submit expressions of interest via email. When a suitable space becomes available, the Commercial Development Leasing Department will invite relevant applicants to participate in the leasing process, subject to the type of space and intended use.

For off-campus commercial properties owned by UCT, leasing follows standard letting protocols.

Storage leasing

The University also offers a limited number of garages for lease to private tenants. These garages are located within various student residences in Rondebosch, Mowbray, and Observatory. They may only be used for housing motor vehicles and storing personal possessions—no other activities are permitted. Leasing follows standard letting protocols.
