Please note:

  • The current core service timetables remain valid until Sunday, 26 October 2025.
  • Obs Square/Faculty of Health Sciences shuttle only operates via South Stop from 12:25 to 17:40 on weekdays.
  • Great Westerford passengers must use Claremont service.
  • Claremont
    • The Claremont shuttle stop is located on Newry Steet for the 23-month duration of the City of Cape Town’s construction of the new Claremont bus terminal.
    • The Claremont shuttle will collect and drop off passengers at the City of Cape Town bus stop opposite Roco Mamas Rondebosch – direction to campus. This is not a scheduled stop, passengers need to request the driver to stop when alighting and signal driver to board.
  • The Sunday timetables apply to public holidays.
  • The UCT Shuttle service is available for free to all staff and students who are in possession of a valid UCT staff or student card.
  • All students and staff members are required to show their student/staff cards before boarding the UCT Shuttle.
  • Passengers are advised to be at shuttle boarding points at least 5–10 minutes before departure time.
  • Timetables are subject to change without prior notice, so please check regularly for updates on UCT’s website and UCT Mobile App.

  • UCT Shuttle delays due to Speed Classic Cape Town

    Please be advised of possible UCT Shuttle delays during the week of 23 to 30 October, due to road closures linked to the Speed Classic Cape Town event taking place from 25 to 26 October 2025.

    Hiddingh shuttles are most likely to be delayed, as various roads on the Hiddingh route will be closed to traffic. Due to these road closures, all users who board at the bridge stop returning to main campus should board and alight at the Gardens Centre stop.

    We recommend that commuters:

    • Allow extra travel time when planning trips to and from campus.
    • Use the UCT Shuttle app (download on Google Play or Apple App Store) for live updates and route changes.

    We appreciate your patience and understanding during this period of disruption.

  • UCT Shuttle stop in Claremont now on Newry Street

    -

    Due to the construction of the new Claremont bus terminal, the UCT Shuttle stop in Claremont (normally located on Central Road) will be relocated. The new stop is one block away from the current location. Commuters can walk along Main Road and then up Newry Steet to reach the new UCT Shuttle stop.

    Effective date: Monday, 29 September 2025

    New location: Newry Street (clearly marked with signage)

    Support: UCT Shuttle staff will be on site to direct students during the transition

    Timetable: UCT Shuttle will continue to operate as scheduled

    Duration: the relocation will remain in place for the expected 23-month construction period.

    Additional updates will be posted on the UCT website, and shared via the UCT Mobile app and the UCT Shuttle app.
